CDA likely to approve setting up of an economic zone near Rawat

economic zone near Rawat

Islamabad: Special economic zone authority (SEZA) and The Board of Investment (BoI) planned to set up an economic zone near Rawat. SEZA and BoI requested CDA for the provision of a NOC for land acquisition.

It is anticipated that the CDA will take up the request in its forthcoming board meeting. A joint summary was prepared by the Planning and Estate Wing to present before the member planning. The summary said: “Board of Investment (BoI)/Special Economic Zone Authority had requested the CDA for identification of land to declare as Special Economic Zone.”

The summary also highlighted that a NOC from the CDA is compulsory before launching any scheme per orders of the Islamabad High Court dated June 9, 2021.

Therefore, the CDA identified 1,000 acres of land near Rawat Industrial Estate to establish an ICT model Special Economic Zone. The authority granted permission to BoI to approach the land acquisition collector for the land acquisition. The SEZA had requested CDA to provide NOC. Formerly the SEZA approved the concept plan in March 2022. The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) permitted the PC-I for the feasibility study and acquisition of land.
