The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected Rs 5.35 trillion in taxes in the last 11 months of the current fiscal year, exiting it with the task of collecting another Rs 750 billion in June to complete the modified target that had been formed after setting the mini-budget.
The FBR generated Rs 5.35 trillion in taxes during July-May of the current fiscal year (2021-22), an growth of about 28.4% over the collection made during the same period of the previous year.
In fundamental terms, the collection was Rs 1.18 trillion more than the previous year.
The previous government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to collect Rs 6.1 trillion during the outgoing fiscal year and also set Rs 360 billion costs of new taxes in the mini-budget.
