Islamabad: After getting a legal permit from the PNRA- Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority, Karachi Nuclear Power Plant Unit-3 completed fuel loading of the second 1,100-megawatt at its Chinese-assisted to praise three decennaries of collaboration with all-weather ally China. A ceremony was held to celebrate the 30 years of cooperation between China and Pakistan. K-3 is in the final stages of commissioning.

The report says after the final stages of commissioning, it will be operational and will be tested. The plant is anticipated to begin commercial operation in March 2022.

Behind the groundbreaking of K-2 and K-3 in November 2013, the development of K-3 was formally begun. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, both countries (Pakistan and China) encountered all probabilities and continued the construction work. It results in the successful completion of K-2 and started commercial operation on May 21, 2021, and now K-3 is expected to do.

According to the report, with this tie of K-2 & K-3 into the national grid, the percentage of nuclear power in the energy compound of Pakistan will surpass 10 percent.
