According to the notification issued by the National Highway Authority, the portion of Grand Truck Road connected to Rawat T- Chowk with Kutchery Chowk (G.T. Road) has been renamed. The area is now called Potohar Avenue.
Liaqat Ali Chattha, Rawalpindi Commissioner, mentioned the news in a meeting that was conducted to examine the improvement work of Potohar Avenue. Rawalpindi Commissioner said Potohar Avenue would be improved to highlight the region’s culture.
Mr. Liaqat Ali Chattha disclosed several things in the meeting, such as preurban councils of Rawalpindi and the area from the Toyota Company showroom to Soan River Bridge that falls under Rawalpindi District jurisdiction from now on. The Commissioner directed the administration to focus on the area’s uplift, such as traffic management, removal of encroachments and cleanliness.
