OGDCL Finds Massive Oil, Gas Reserves in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad: Huge gas and oil reserves were found near Lakki Marwat in KP.

According to top officials in the Energy Ministry, the discovery is expected to be the largest in the previous decade.

When contacted, OGDCL spokesperson Ahmad Hayat Lak verified the news, claiming that the company had discovered a large oil and gas deposit in the Wali block, but refusing to divulge any further information.

OGDCL, Pakistan’s foremost exploration and production company, has pursued an aggressive exploration strategy that has resulted in the finding of hydrocarbons on Jandran West X-1. This find will increase OGDCL’s and the country’s hydrocarbon reserves.

According to the sources, the OGDCL now produces 37,000 barrels per day of crude oil, accounting for 48 percent of the country’s total output, and 900 mmcfd of gas, accounting for 29 percent of total output. According to the sources, the OGDCL also generates 850 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) every day, accounting for 37 percent of the country’s total output.
