Authorities to Include Dedicated Green Areas in Master Plan of Punjab Districts-Realtorspk

Punjab: In an effort to tackle pollution and protect agricultural land, the Caretaker Local Government Minister Ibrahim Murad has instructed the relevant authorities to identify green areas in the master plans of 11 districts in Punjab, with a view to preserving them.

Chairing a meeting to assess the progress of the master plan for these 11 districts, Minister Murad emphasized that no new housing schemes would be permitted in green areas and that strict action would be taken against existing schemes that illegally encroach on such areas. He also noted that business zones and economic corridors are crucial for promoting commercial and business activities in small towns, generating employment opportunities for the local population.

According to Umm Laila Naqvi, the Local Government Department Project Director, the department is preparing master plans for Sialkot, Okara, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Kha, Muzaffargarh, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Kha, Sahiwal, and Vehari. Land Use Classification Maps for these districts have already been created and sent to the relevant Deputy Commissioners for approval, after which the land use plans will be finalized.
