Rawalpindi Portion of Peshawar Road to be Made Signal-Free

Divisional Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal stated a recommendation has been drafted to construct the Rawalpindi portion of Peshawar Road from Koral Chowk to Motorway Chowk – signal-free, and exertions are being created to contain this project in the Annual Development Programme 2022-23.

Moreover, he stated this during a conference held to review the submitted project. The meeting was attended by the director (development and planning) and officers concerned of the Punjab Highway Department.

The commissioner declared the cost of the project is about Rs. 10 billion and the construction of one flyover and four underpasses are included in it. He added ‘The flyover will be constructed at Ammar Chowk, and four underpasses at GPO Chowk, GHQ Chowk, Qasim Market, and Military Hospital Chowk’.

The commissioner declared that the master plan and design of the project have been designed and it will decrease travel time between Koral Chowk and Motorway Chowk from one hour to 10 minutes.
