Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) are teaming up to enhance their efforts in the Digital Tax Administration Project. A recent meeting at the FBR headquarters between ADB officials and FBR leadership proved to be productive, aiming to strengthen collaboration. Led by Senior Director Tariq Niazi from Manila, the ADB mission engaged in discussions with FBR leaders regarding the progress of the Domestic Resource Mobilisation Program (DRM).

The ADB expressed satisfaction with the successful rollout of the program, particularly highlighting achievements under Sub Program I, which contributed to improved policies and institutional capacity within the FBR.

The FBR outlined its vision of transitioning into a Digital Tax Administration, aligning with the Prime Minister’s objectives to modernize and maintain global competitiveness. Their focus is on digitalising processes to reduce taxpayer compliance costs, broaden the tax base, and ensure sustainable revenue growth.

To achieve this vision, the FBR will collaborate with Karandaaz to develop a comprehensive digital strategy. The ADB expressed keen interest in supporting this endeavour, and both parties agreed to explore avenues for strengthening their collaboration in advancing Pakistan’s Digital Tax Administration Project.
