ADB – The Asian Development Bank has started the distribution of loans to the KPK government under the cities Improvement Project. The loan will be used on various improvement projects such as clean drinking water, basic facilities, and sanitation services in different major cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
KP government has distributed around 240 million PKR for the project after receiving funds from the Bank. In line with the deal between ADB and KP government, the bank will offer I billion USD as a loan for a two-phase city development project.
In 1st phase, the funds will be used to provide basic facilities in 5 major cities, i.e., Mardan, Abbottabad, Swat, and Kohat. In the 2nd Phase, these services will be provided to other cities such as Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, & BRT Peshawar.
The funds will be provided for many other city improvement projects like clean drinking water, reusable drainage water, and park construction. It is important to note that the ADB loan is the largest loan in the province’s history.
