In Peshawar, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZDMC) recently convened its inaugural session to strategize on the creation of 10 economic zones along with two Special Economic Zones (SEZs) across the region. The agenda also covered the progress of four additional economic zones and the initiation of one more SEZ.
The session, graced by the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education (IC&TE), Abdul Karim Tordhir, at the KP-EZDMC headquarters in Peshawar, delved into the organization’s role in fostering industrial growth, its achievements so far, and its visions for the future.
Key outcomes of the discussion highlighted the completion of the Ghazi Economic Zone and the readiness of the Mansehra Economic Zone for its commercial debut. Updates on the ongoing work in various zones were shared, including construction efforts and electrical infrastructure development in the Hattar Economic Zone, advancement of commercial facilities in Gadoon, and the assignment of spaces within the Rashakai Special Economic Zone as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative.
The meeting also revealed the successful expansion of the Nowshera Economic Zone and impressive operations at the Export Promotion Zone in Risalpur, home to the world’s foremost matchbox production facility.
