Pakistan and China Call for Accelerated Progress on CPEC Projects

Islamabad: During a meeting with Mr. Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), and his delegation at Aiwan-e-Sadr on April 24th, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the enduring bond between Pakistan and China. He highlighted the commitment to strengthen this relationship, particularly in trade, economy, agriculture, cultural exchange, and fostering people-to-people connections.

President Zardari echoed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and stressed its strategic significance. He pledged full support for its timely completion and underscored the key role of Gwadar Port in enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating cost-effective transportation of goods to China.

Mr. Luo Zhaohui briefed President Zardari on CIDCA’s contributions to Pakistan’s socio-economic development, particularly in health, education, and disaster relief efforts. He advocated for boosting tourism and agricultural collaboration between the two nations.

Expressing gratitude to China for its support and vital role in Pakistan’s economic progress, Zardari applauded CIDCA’s assistance in flood relief, school reconstruction, and housing projects for Lady Health Workers in Sindh and Balochistan. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Dr. Jahanzeb Khan, and senior officials from both governments.
