Lahore: The Punjab Government has announced plans to initiate the construction of the “Darshan Resort” adjacent to the sacred Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur. This development was revealed by the Secretary of Punjab Tourism, Raja Jahangir Anwar. The proposed five-story resort, estimated to cost PKR 300 million, is scheduled to commence construction next month, aiming to facilitate the journey of Sikh pilgrims from around the globe.
Situated merely 500 meters from Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the project is anticipated to reach completion by the end of 2024. The Punjab Government has committed to fully fund this initiative as part of its strategy to enhance religious tourism in the region.
During a detailed presentation, Secretary Anwar highlighted the resort’s amenities, which include a mini-theater, a fitness center, and a minimum of ten suites on the top floor. Moreover, the resort’s design offers a panoramic view of Kartarpur Sahib, intending to enrich the spiritual experience of the visitors.
Given the historical and religious significance of Kartarpur as the final abode of Guru Nanak Dev, the establishment of the Darshan Resort is aimed at deepening the connection of Sikh pilgrims with this revered site and promoting religious tourism.
