KP Implements a Centralized Property Tax System

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has rolled out a cutting-edge GIS-based Centralized Urban Immovable Property Tax Management and Information System (CUIPTMIS) to revolutionize the province’s property tax regime.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, saw the presence of former Justice Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, serving as the chief guest alongside caretaker provincial ministers Ahmed Rasool Bangash and Engr. Ahmed Jan. Secretary of Excise and Taxation Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah and Secretary of Local Government Daud Khan were also in attendance, among other officials.

With an initial investment of Rs 95.898 million, the Management and Information System (MIS) has been launched in two districts, Nowshera and Abbottabad, with plans for expansion to the entire province. The system has identified 50,938 new property units in these districts, bringing the total count to 90,938. This surge in property units has correspondingly elevated tax revenue demand from Rs 69 million to Rs 123 million in Nowshera and Rs 83 million to Rs 143 million in Abbottabad.

Chief Minister Syed Arshad Hussain Shah commended the Excise and Taxation department for spearheading this transformative initiative. He emphasized that the newly implemented system enhances tax collection and management and provides taxpayers with an integrated online platform and grievance redressal mechanism, thereby enhancing efficiency and accountability in tax administration across the province.
