Punjab Government has started development work on Southern Loop of Ring Road

Lahore: The Punjab government has started the construction of the much-anticipated Ring Road Southern Loop-3 (SL-3) project in Lahore. The Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) officials have already begun the process of identifying the 3,000-kanal land acquired for the 8.5-kilometre-long SL-3.

Overseeing the demarcation process is Dr. Sohail Shahzad, Chairman of the Lahore Ring Road Authority, while Director Fahad Anees Qureshi and his team are actively involved in the work. The construction of SL-3 had been previously hindered by stay orders imposed by the Lahore High Court (LHC), but now all those orders have been lifted, clearing the way for the project.

For the 8.5-kilometre-long Ring Road Southern Loop-3, stretching from Ada Plot to Multan Road, the Punjab government has allocated more than 17 billion rupees. The necessary funds for the project have been approved by the Punjab government, and they are also seeking additional funds from the federal government.

The SL-3 project will feature two interchanges, with the one at Multan Road set to become the largest interchange in Punjab. Additionally, service lanes will be developed alongside the main corridor to accommodate the residents on both sides of the road.

Moreover, the Lahore Ring Road Authority has initiated preparations for the tender process under the second construction option for the project.
