CDA Board Approves Facilitation Centre for Swift Building Plan Approvals

CDA Board Approves Facilitation Centre for Swift Building Plan Approvals

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board gives the go-ahead to establish a facilitation center to facilitate the building plan approval process.

In a recent board meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Anwarul Haq, the decision was made to establish a facilitation center dedicated to streamlining the approval process for building plans. This initiative is geared towards reducing the timeline for approval, benefitting both residential and commercial property owners in Islamabad.

The board has allocated specific timeframes for the endorsement of building plans. Small residential projects, defined as plots measuring up to 60′ x 90′, are set to be approved within an impressive 48 hours. Meanwhile, commercial building plans for plots up to 500.00 sq. yards, with a covered area of less than 10,000 sq. feet, will receive approval within a commendable 72 hours.

The move comes in response to the growing demand for faster approvals, acknowledging that the existing timeline for approval stood at 21 days. The Building Control Wing, through a summary, highlighted the need for a Facilitation Centre at the Building Control Directorate.

Applicants are encouraged to approach the facilitation center directly with all necessary drawings and documents for a streamlined three-day approval process. The board members are also considering extending this expedited service to owners of larger plots in subsequent phases.

Additional charges and regular scrutiny fees have been approved for this accelerated service. For example, owners of residential plots up to 356 square yards will incur an extra PKR 20,000 for approval through the facilitation center. Larger plot owners and commercial building proprietors will also pay additional fees for fast-track approval.

This significant development marks a positive step towards enhancing the efficiency of Islamabad’s building plan approval process, fostering a more responsive and facilitative approach for property owners and developers in the capital city.
