National Adaption Plan Approved to Boost Climate Resilience

Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet has approved National Adaptation Plan 2023 recommended by the Ministry of Climate Change to protect vulnerable communities from the adverse effects of climate change.

According to an official announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the government and other stakeholders will take measures to implement early warning systems and effective measures to cope with emergency situations.

Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman expressed her gratitude to the cabinet and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their approval of the plan.

The economic, human, and national security issue demands investment in adaptation measures to strengthen fundamental capacities to meet the challenge. Keeping that in view, Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif stated that climate change is redefining every human experience on the planet and approved the National Adaptation Plan which would give Pakistan the essential tools to adapt to the risks of climate stress.

The premier also acknowledged the efforts of the environment minister, her staff, and other stakeholders. Despite being responsible for less than 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions, Pakistan is still one of the most vulnerable nations to the extreme weather caused by global warming.
