RDA Sets New Regulation for Private Housing Schemes in District

Rawalpindi: District Council and RDA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improvise regulating private housing societies in the district of Rawalpindi.

Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema, the Deputy Commissioner, initiated regulating housing schemes in a meeting held last week. The decision was taken to regulate the rapid growth of new housing societies in the vicinity of Rawalpindi.

According to the meeting details, the decision was taken to strengthen and unite Rawalpindi development authority and regulatory tasks under one civic body. Therefore, Rawalpindi Development Authority will manage and regulate private housing societies and grant approvals for buildings in the district.

Additionally, a 5-member committee, including representatives from Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation, RDA, and District Council, has been established to work on the specifics of the initiative. The members’ main goal will be to create the terms & conditions for transferring properties and other tasks related to private housing societies in the district and Building Control to RDA from the District Council.

The five-member committee, consisting of representatives from the RDA, Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation, and District Council, has been formed to finalize the specifics of this arrangement. The primary task is to establish the terms and conditions for transferring the responsibilities associated with the regulation of private housing societies in Rawalpindi and Building Control from the District Council to the RDA.
