Federal Minister Unveils Plans for Industrial Zone in Karachi

Karachi: Federal Minister for Commerce and Industries, Dr Gohar Ejaz, revealed plans for a vast 10,000-acre industrial zone in Karachi during his visit to the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).

The proposed industrial zone in Karachi presents a significant opportunity to boost exports by up to USD 100 billion within the next five years. Creating three million jobs in Karachi alone is also a potential outcome of this development.

FM Ejaz expresses optimism regarding the economic growth prospects that can be achieved through active collaboration between the business community and the government’s financial targets. He recommends the involvement of top economists as advisors to FPCCI to contribute to policy recommendations and address concerns in Pakistan’s economy.

SM Tanveer, the Caretaker Minister of Commerce for Punjab, has emphasized the need for the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to establish a dependable research and development framework.

Such a framework would facilitate the incorporation of recommendations into multiple policy areas, including budget, industry, trade, agriculture, finance, taxation, SMEs, and infrastructure development, by both federal and provincial governments.
