Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has revealed plans to renovate the famous Sujan Singh Haveli into a tourist attraction. The Haveli is located in Bhabara Bazar, Rawalpindi.

Dr Jamal Nasir, Punjab Primary & Secondary Healthcare & Population Minister, issued directives to the district administration and municipal corporation to renovate the historic building into a tourist spot. The revamped Haveli will have an upscale food court, an art gallery, and a museum.

Built by a Sikh political figure, Sujan Singh, the four-floor Haveli has exquisite architecture, and in the past, the brick masonry and the woodwork of the Haveli had been renovated several times.

The restoration plan includes a budget of PKR 104 million for the rehabilitation of Sujan Singh Haveli and PKR 80 million for the renovation of Bhabara Bazaar food street. The ambitious project is to bring the food street back to its original 1857 state. It also aims to renovate the surrounding house facades while burying underground sewerage pipes and utility cables.
