ECNEC approves four development projects worth Rs265bn

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – The National Economic Council’s Executive Committee (ECNEC) authorised development projects worth Rs265.28 billion on Wednesday.

Shaukat Tarin, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Revenue, presided over a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). ECNEC reviewed and approved a revised project for the building of the Hyderabad–Sukkur Motorway on a Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis for Rs.191,471.074 million. The National Highway Authority (NHA) will oversee the building of a 306-kilometer-long, six-lane-wide, divided-fence highway between Hyderabad and Sukkur.

Ecnec also authorised two road projects in Rawalpindi totaling Rs48.57 billion. The first project, titled “Land Acquisition for Lai Expressway and Flood Channel, Rawalpindi,” was authorised for Rs24.961 billion. The committee recommended that no expenditures be made until the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report was completed and the project was approved by the PPP board.
